Window treatment installation in Los Angeles

Even the most beautiful shade, shutter or blind needs to fit well to look right and work properly. Careful measuring and installation are among the most important parts of the job. Start with a free in-home consultation: we bring samples to your home and take measurements for your windows.

A good fit takes more than width and height.

John began installing window treatments in the mid-1980s, before opening his California store in 1995.

We measure the width at several points up the window and the height at several points across it. We also check whether the opening is square and level. One width and one height don’t tell the whole story.

Mounting depth, trim, handles and room for the treatment to move all matter too. Without the right fit, a treatment can look uneven or fail to open and close smoothly.

At installation, we check the mounting brackets, alignment and operation, as well as how the finished treatment looks in the window. With drapery, we also check how the fabric hangs and where the panels sit when open.

Blinds and shades

Mounting depth and the space around the window affect where a treatment sits. We check positioning and movement, including clearances around handles or trim that could interfere with everyday use.

Shutters

The fit involves both the frame and the panels. We check how the panels open and the louvers operate, with attention to nearby trim, handles and the space needed for access.

Drapery and hardware

The height and span of a rod or track shape the way drapery frames the window. We fit the hardware and check how the panels hang, travel and sit when open.

Hunter Douglas PowerView® Automation wall-mounted control

Motorized control that fits your routine.

With motorized shades, you can use a remote, a wall control or an app, depending on the system. We’ll help you compare the controls available for the shades you’re considering.

We set up the shades and controls, including any hub or gateway the system needs, and check that the shades respond correctly. If hardwired shades need an electrical connection, we can coordinate with your electrician.

We show you how to adjust the shades and answer your questions about the controls.

From the measuring visit to installation.

Confirm the project details.

The measurements, product selections, hardware and controls need to work together. We review those details as part of the quote, including any mounting or power requirements that affect the installation. We’ll explain what’s involved and answer your questions.

Discuss availability and timing.

A single blind and several rooms of motorized shades involve different amounts of work. We’ll discuss product availability and timing for your project, and keep you informed if an item is delayed.

Stay in touch afterward.

John has talked customers through an app adjustment by phone when a shade stopped working as expected. Some questions can be resolved with guidance; others need an in-person check. Tell us what is happening, and we’ll discuss the next step.

Questions about window treatment installation

Ask John: (818) 884-5464
How do I get started?

Request a free in-home consultation. We bring samples, measure your windows and help you work through the product and control choices. From there, we can prepare a quote and discuss installation.

Can you help with just one window?

Yes. John welcomes one-window projects as well as work across several rooms. Tell us what you’re considering, and we’ll talk through the options.

Do you install drapery rods and tracks?

We install drapery rods and tracks, check the mounting points and allow space for the fabric to open and close. We also check how the finished drapery hangs.

Can you help with motorized and hardwired shades?

We install compatible motorized treatments and help with control and hub setup. If the arrangement requires electrical work, we can discuss coordination with your electrician.

How long will installation take?

The time depends on the number of windows, treatment types and mounting details. Once we know your selections and the layout, we can discuss the work involved and the installation arrangements.

What if I have a question after installation?

Call us and describe what is happening. We’ll help work out whether guidance by phone is appropriate or an in-person check is needed. Parts or repairs depend on the product and the problem.
