Custom Drapery and Curtains in Los Angeles, California

Some rooms need curtains that close each evening; others need side panels to finish the window. At John Crawford Company in Woodland Hills, we’ll help you compare fabrics, lining and hardware, with measuring and installation handled by our team.

Curtains and side panels

Curtains that open and close need room for the fabric to gather at the sides. Stationary panels stay in place to frame the window. We can compare the two with you and look at how much coverage you'd like.

Lining affects how much light comes through and how the drapery looks from outside. Length and fullness change the way the fabric hangs. We'll look at those details with you, along with colors and patterns that work with the room.

Hunter Douglas Provenance® Woven Wood Shades

Provenance® Woven Wood Shades also come in a vertical drapery style for wide openings. Natural woven materials give a different texture from fabric curtains. We can show you the available weaves and explain the privacy each provides.

Drapery hardware and layering

Choosing the rod or track

A rod or track needs to support the fabric and let it move the way you intend. We can talk through options for your window, including the span, mounting points and space for the fabric when open.

If you already have drapery and the rod or track is the problem, tell us what's happening. We can review the hardware and discuss whether repair or replacement is appropriate.

Pairing drapery with shades

You can use a shade or blind for everyday light control and add drapery for fabric, privacy or room darkening. We'll look at how the layers fit together so the rod, fabric and window treatment have room to operate.

If several windows share a room, it helps to consider how the treatments look together when open and closed. You can coordinate fabrics without putting the same treatment on every opening.

Professional drapery measuring and installation

Professional measuring helps us work out the fabric, hardware and mounting details for your windows. Our team also installs the drapery, checks how it hangs and moves, and shows you how to use it.

Questions about custom drapery

Ask John: (818) 884-5464
Do I need drapes, curtains or side panels?

The names overlap in everyday use. What matters is whether the fabric needs to open and close, provide privacy or finish the sides of the window. We'll start with those needs and show you suitable styles.

Can drapery help darken a bedroom?

The fabric, lining and coverage around the opening all affect light control. We'll discuss how much darkness you need and review the arrangement, including light that may enter at the top, sides or bottom.

Can I add motorized control?

Motorized tracks are an option for some drapery. They open and close the curtains with a compatible control. We’ll check the fabric weight, opening and hardware to see what will work for your windows.
